KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY DECOR DETAILS

I am still reeling in all the fun we had at our Kentucky Derby party! These last few weeks I’ve been busy sharing all of the party prep and today I want to share the final Kentucky Derby Decorations from the party. Those last few minutes before the party starts are always a little chaotic… especially when you are a blogger and determined to take pictures of your set up to share. But I couldn’t let this go by without sharing the final results of all of the planning with y’all!

Here are the shots I took as we were getting things ready of all of the Kentucky Derby Decorations. Honestly, I spent LOTS of time preparing so it wasn’t too much of a hustle the day of. (of course it also helped that the Sweets went to my parents early in the morning!) Alright- here we go! Come on in.

KENTUCKY DERBY DECORATIONS AND PARTY DECORATING IDEAS

1. GREET YOUR GUEST WITH A DIY “RUN FOR THE ROSES” BURLAP WREATH

Let’s start with the front door. I made this “Run for the Roses” burlap rose wreath for the party and at the last minute I stuck some boxwood clippings in.

2. TRANSFORM AN OLD PLASTIC TOY HORSE INTO A STATEMENT PIECE

The moss horse centerpiece was center stage in the foyer. Can you believe this was an old plastic toy horse to start?

3. SERVE BBQ!

We had our party catered by a local BBQ restaurant and it was the perfect meal!

4.TOP IT OFF WITH BOURBON BROWNIES

My sweet neighbor made these delicious Bourbon Brownies and garnished with mint. So festive and tasty!

5. MORE IS MORE WHEN IT COMES TO RED ROSES AS KENTUCKY DERBY DECORATING!

She also tipped me off that Costco had two dozen roses for $15 so roses were everywhere!

Moving outside which is where the bulk of the party was. I set three tables with various rose and horse centerpieces and table runners.  I decided early on that I was going to stick with a navy and red color scheme so everything coordinated when it was time to pull it all together.

6. MAKE SURE EVERYONE CAN SEE THE RACE!

One of the two TV’s we set up outside. The other one was upstairs on the porch.

9. SET UP A FUN BAR AREA COMPLETE WITH A BOURBON BAR AND MINT JULEPS.

And here is the bar set up before it was fully ready to go. I also found that barrel planter at Costco that we used as a beer cooler.
